The Appraisal Process:
Free consultation: When you contact Peenstra Antiques Appraisals by phone or by using the online appraisal form, we will evaluate your piece and advise on the best way to proceed. We can discuss the purpose of the evaluation and whether you require a written or verbal appraisal. If you decide to proceed, we will send you an invoice with the cost of the appraisal, which you can pay via our convenient online process.
Research & Valuation: Once we have your permission to proceed and we have received your payment, we will begin the research process based on the materials you have provided us. Using our extensive library and industry contacts we will assess the value of your antique, jewelry or artwork.
Documentation/Reporting: If you have elected to receive a verbal evaluation we will contact you with the information on your item. If you elected to receive a written valuation, you will receive a report detailing our findings along with a fair market value for your piece/pieces. The amount of time required to complete the valuation will, of course, depend on the item you have submitted and the nature of the appraisal.
If you have several pieces you would like to have evaluated, please call 410-280-2262 to discuss your project.
Free Consultations are available prior to engaging any services.
Minimum appraisal fee is $25.00
Because every situation is different, appraisal fees will vary. The appraisal fee is determined by the amount of time spent during the examination and assessment of your antique, jewelry or artwork and whether you are looking for a verbal or written appraisal.
When you have submitted your request for an appraisal you will receive an invoice for the cost of the appraisal. If you agree to the price, you simply pay for the service with your credit card.
Fees for the appraisal of large collections or estates will be determined during the initial free consultation.
Consultation fees for the sale or acquisition of property will be determined on a case by case basis during the initial free consultation.
All of our appraisals are provided as a service. Our fees are based on the time required to research and prepare your appraisal. For that reason, once the appraisal process has been started, there are no refunds. If, for some reason, you wish to stop the appraisal process before any research or time has been spent on your appraisal, please contact Todd Peenstra at 410-280-2262 or 202-557-5500 as soon as possible.
